We are delighted to announce that Millom And Around The Combe CIC has officially become Community Connections Millom CIC.
Our new name reflects how our organisation has grown and evolved over the years. Whilst we remain proud of our roots, Community Connections Millom CIC better represents our role as a community-focused social enterprise that brings people together, provides support, reduces isolation and helps individuals access opportunities and services.
Although our name has changed, our values, mission and commitment to the community remain exactly the same.
We would like to thank everyone who has supported us on our journey so far and look forward to continuing to serve our community under our new identity.
Welcome to the next chapter of Community Connections Millom CIC.
Millom And Around The Combe C.I.C, also known as MACCG, came together as a group of passionate individuals who came together in July 2024 with the goal of improving the lives of residents in Millom and Around The Combe. Our mission was to create a sustainable and inclusive platform that provided various opportunities for growth.
We are committed to delivering coordinated local services that prioritise and enhance the health, wellbeing, personal development, and educational opportunities of individuals within the community.
Through collaboration with third sector groups and service providers, Community Connections CIC strives to establish a supportive network that caters to the varied needs of our residents. Our goal is to guarantee that all individuals have access to vital resources and opportunities for personal development.
By cultivating partnerships with a diverse range of stakeholders, such as private, voluntary, and public sectors, we aim to enhance our impact and effectiveness in serving the community. Our dedication is centered on establishing a solid foundation that fosters community engagement, addresses food insecurity, promotes self-empowerment, and resilience. This will ultimately result in a more dynamic and prosperous environment for all residents in Millom and the surrounding areas.

At Community Connections Millom CIC, we are passionate about supporting our local community and helping to ease the pressures of poverty and financial hardship.
Our mission is to alleviate hardship through practical support, dignity, and compassion. Funds raised through our shop sales allow us to provide emergency packages and much more to individuals and families in crisis, offering immediate relief while longer-term support is arranged. This is aided by working in partnership with our local Food Bank.
Our retail outlet is operated by a Community Interest Company (CIC) — a not-for-profit social enterprise established to benefit the community.
While we are sometimes mistaken for a charity shop, we are not a registered charity. As a CIC, we operate under a different legal structure. This means that all income generated through the shop is reinvested directly into sustaining our services, covering operational costs, and delivering community support initiatives.
Our primary income stream comes from the sale of high-quality donated goods. We are extremely grateful to those who support us through donations, as this generosity enables us to continue our work.
New items, either purchased directly or kindly donated
Our popular and affordable “Little Gifts From The Heart” range
The much-loved La Lucca (Spanish Cleaning) collection
A selection of canned and bottled drinks and snacks
This diverse and carefully curated mix allows us to maintain a sustainable income model while offering value and variety to our customers.

Together, we’re building a stronger, more resilient community — one where everyone has access to the essentials they need to thrive.

At Community Connections Millom CIC, every project, partnership, and initiative is driven by our commitment to making a real, measurable difference in people’s lives.
Through our Community Shop/Hub, and strong network of partners, we provide practical help and emotional support to individuals and families facing financial hardship, or simply need somewhere non-judgemental to turn. Our approach ensures that people not only receive immediate relief but are also supported to build long-term stability and confidence.
Each week, we see the impact of this work — individuals and families who find renewed purpose and belonging through community connection. We are proud to play a part in reducing items going to landfill, (if items are unfit for sale, yet are in reasonable clean condition, they are sent to recycling company whom we use, to ensure as little as possible is sent to landfill) promoting sustainability, and fostering local resilience.
Our success is measured not just in numbers, but in the stories of hope, kindness, and transformation that emerge from our community every day. Behind every item sold, or friendly conversation lies the heart of our mission: to make life a little easier, a little brighter, and a lot more connected for everyone in our area.
Together, with the continued support of our volunteers, partners, and community, we are creating a stronger, fairer, and more compassionate Millom and surrounding areas — one step at a time.

At Community Connections Millom CIC, collaboration is at the heart of everything we do. We are proud to work alongside a wide range of organisations that share our ethos of placing the community at the centre of their work.
Our valued partners — including the Food Bank, DWP, Local Councils, Social Prescribing teams, and Green Doctor, to name just a few — form the foundation of a strong, interconnected support network. Together, we are better equipped to respond to the diverse needs of individuals and families across the area.
Through these partnerships, we are able to provide a holistic and responsive service. For example, we now assist community members with completing and renewing Blue Badge applications, providing essential help for those with mobility challenges. Our trusted relationships also allow us to make fast-track referrals to Citizens Advice, ensuring people receive timely, accurate advice on benefits, housing, debt, and other vital issues.
These collaborations do more than enhance our services — they foster a culture of shared knowledge and mutual support among community-focused organisations. By working together, we are building a coordinated network of advice, guidance, and practical assistance that is approachable, effective, and grounded in the real-life needs of the people we serve.
This joined-up approach strengthens the fabric of our community, reduces duplication of services, and ensures that no one is left behind due to a lack of information or support. It reflects our ongoing commitment to creating a more inclusive, connected, and resilient community for all.
